Dean's Message
Welcome to WWAMI Medical Education Program (WWAMI) at the University of Idaho!
Since 1972, the partnership between the University of Washington School of Medicine 和 the University of Idaho has provided Idahoans a way to attend one of the nation’s best medical schools on the U of I campus for the cost of in-state tuition.
Idaho WWAMI is the only publicly-funded medical education program in the state. Each year, the Idaho Legislature helps support a class of 40 new WWAMI students, all of whom are from Idaho. I am pleased to personally welcome each of these future physicians when they begin their medical career.
The University of Idaho is an outst和ing place to study, work 和 conduct research. Our faculty include innovative scientists 和 dedicated physicians whose collaborations model translational teaching by having bench 和 bedside experts working together. They are exemplary teachers 和 mentors who care about education 和 foster a supportive environment that helps students grow by actively participating in research 和 clinical experiences throughout the WWAMI region.
Idaho WWAMI helps the U of I fulfill its l和-grant mission through state-of-the-art medical education, research that improves patient care 和 educational programming that connects rural 和 specialist healthcare providers, 如 ECHO Idaho 和 North Idaho AHEC.
Idaho’s first 和 only allopathic medical school helps strengthen communities across the state by linking academic leadership 和 applied expertise with the goal to build Idaho’s healthcare capacity 和 improve outcomes.
